Not Quite Hollywood

It's a doc on Ozspoiltation flicks and I was surprised how many I had seen: Patrick, Mad Max, Howling, Road Games, Razorback, The Man from Hong Kong (man do they dis Jimmy Wang Yu)... There's a whole genre of soft core Oz flicks that got by me, but that's just as well. Tarantino makes some good comments - he's always eloquent when it comes to B genres and sounds a lot like one of us. I was glad to see the Saw creators 'fess up to ripping off their entire franchise from that saw scene in Mad Max, something I totally knew even without ever seeing a single Saw flick. There were two flicks that looked interesting - some BMX flick which starred a young Nicole Kidman, and some horrid atrocity called Turkey Shoot. Thankfully, there wasn't any Crocodile Dundee or Olivia Newton John. There's a lot of interviews, tightly spliced in between film excerpts, so the doc moves at a pretty steady clip. It's entertaining, but not worth a second viewing and not really DOOM worthy, save as a reference.

I was so going to watch more of the Ken Burn's National Park doc, but our TV got possessed by the devil. We don't have cable, and sometimes, when the weather is right, the sound on digital TV gets all wonky and everyone sounds like Satan. Then I was thinking I should pluck some albatross but the TV was already on and I just got this DVD screener yesterday...

Struggle

Beware the Ken Burns. Next thing you know, you'll be making travel plans. Why yes, I will be in Yosemite this Christmas.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit
