Ep07 The penultimate. The showdown cometh. The final battle is teased. There's a lot of whacky stuff in this show. I think the more I get to know the characters, the better the show becomes. And each character does have an arc, no matter how small the character. I still have to watch the opening credits dance number because it is so loopy. But I don't care for much of the 80s glam rock music. John Cena kills it in the role of Peacemaker. He must be very happy the role came along because it allows him to a surprising amount of things you wouldn't expect like playing the piano in last week's episode. Granted, he played Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue but he did actually play.

Dammit. I have now stumbled into the spoilers for tonight's final episode. Twice. The internet is the devil.

And it's over. The big spoiler was an accurate spoiler but didn't spoil the show too much. It was kind of a meh ending. And kind of challenging. There was a philosophical question posed and I'm not sure if Peacemaker made the right choice. It does set up for season two but it does wrap up season 1 which I liked. At the end of the day, I think Peacemaker needs to be more proactive in his story. Everyone around him did things while things just happened to him.

Just a saw a lot of hate for James Gunn for the big ending. People are calling him Joss Whedon 2.0. I'm beginning to think people are dumb.

Finished...meh. No likable characters. Not a fan of 80's hair metal, so that was annoying (except for Cena having a moment on the piano). Why is Peacemaker's dad so tech savvy, yet the single purpose helmets seem like a bad design.
Similar tone to Suicide Squad which I didn't like much either.

John Cena is a mensch. I hear he does this all the time. I believe he fulfills the most Make A Wish requests.

There’s a huge Peacemaker installation in the gaslamp but I don’t watch this so I didn’t engage it. Cena was here. Gunn too.

As usual, Peacemaker sort of plods along until they hit you over the head with a really good episode. That episode is the lates Ep06. So many surprises and twists and the interwebs are sharing all of them. Glad, I watched it last night.
Basically, to avoid his troubles, Peacemaker goes to alternate universe where he is treated like the hero he always thought he should be. Last night was the update on how that was going.

Fuck you, James Gunn. That's all I have to say.
Okay. I have more to say. I'm going to take a break from being angry at my shoulder for not functioning to being angry at James Gunn for jerking me around. I thought Ep07 was really good and looked forward to finding out where the final would take us. Well, you start by seeing Peacemaker in Jail and then you go spend a half hour watching Argus open doors to alternate universes. Then there is a giant bait and switch which leads to a cliffhanger. Only problem. They have already said there won't be a season 3 of Peacemaker. The inter webs inform us this movie will tie directly into the next Superman movie. I think the next Superman movie is slated for 2027. Thanks for nothing. Can't anyone write a stand alone anymore. Do we always have to be left hanging for the next dopamine fix?
And there is a lot of self indulgence on Gunn's part, too. In many spots, he does what he thinks is entertaining without gauging if the audience has similar sensibilities. Granted, he is one of the top directors working today so he must have some sense of audience taste. But I think in the TV realm, he lets his inner like off the chain for a bit. Music choices would be number one on that list.
Finally, am I the only one who thinks it's strange for a writer/director to be directing his wife falling in love with another man? It always feels a bit creepy to me.
