Not bad. Worth renting for my cub. New age meets psychedelia via time travelling aliens and Lewis Carroll. What can I say? I have a white rabbit named Alice. I was once nicknamed the Cheshire Cat. I'm a sucker for anything Wonderland/Looking Glass oriented. This would not make a good double feature with Jabberwocky, but if memory serves, Lady Cranefly once knew that epic poem by heart, which is one reason she's always had my respect (the other is putting up with CF for so long, but we won't go there). Stars Rainn Wilson of the Office as a science teacher named Larry White (think Bewitched). For some reason, he doesn't go ballistic when the kids start drawing shri yantra mandalas (which I still can't draw well) or creating structures by commanding spiders to cast webs for science projects. In fact, there's a lot of preposterousness in the plot that must be overlooked. The kid actors are ok. Timothy Hutton is ineffective. It's really the psychedelic moments that won me over here - well captured for a kid's movie and presented in good spirit. I'm easy to please. Give me a few good psychedelic scenes and some Carroll references, and I'm entertained.
