Tasty ultravi.
It’s Yakuza v Korean gangs v special ‘off the books’ detective squad. Lots of characters but they wiggle down soon enough. A Romeo & Juliet side plot. A cute newbie who catches on quick. And of course, there’s a double cross.
Shot in some land where every space has a red light on one side and a green light on the other. Makes for some cartoonish color schemes but it works. Some nice intrigue as a discredited cop exacts revenge on a dirty politician mob boss.
Back to that ultravi, this choreo is fresh. All gritty street fights - guns, long knives, pipes, aluminum bats, a bullhorn (my fav - luv that bullhorn) the fights are frantic chaos, with an mma undertone. Some of the shots are crazy long and complex. Some of the freshest fight scenes I’ve seen in a while.
