Chinese Gods (1975)
#1
Been finishing up that 50th anniversary of Enter the Dragon piece and since I touched on this flick, I figured I should rewatch it again since it’s been years and I could hardly remember it.

This is the animated Brucesploitation flick. And it’s horrible. The animation so crude. The story is based on old Chinese gods tales with characters like Nezha showing up. Bruce appears as a god too, inexplicably late in the film with his third eye open (and he can shoot a laser beam out of it). I kept wanting this to be so bad that it’s good, and it’s so close, but ultimately it’s just bad.

There are moments. The demons are ridiculous. A giant snake swallows Bruce, and he finds its uvula and starts hitting it like a boxing bag but when the snake is shown suffering, Bruce’s punches are distending the serpent’s midsection. Does this magic snake have a uvula in its stomach? Do snakes even have uvulas? Maybe it’s a bile duct. I dunno. I give up with this film.

At times, I wished this was remade in live action with on camera special effects. It’s so goofy that it just might work.
