Lady from Chungking (1945)
#1
Anna May Wong is a resistance fighter disguised as a coolie, then a high society lady, to infiltrate the Japanese occupation. Wong recently got her face on a quarter although I’ve yet to see one (kinda stopped using cash during the pandemic).

It’s an odd film as so many WWII propaganda films are. Wong is one of the only real Asians. She speaks in unaccented English and truly is the star of this film. The Japanese are all yellowface. There’s a toady weapon runner who manages the hotel and keeps saying Heil Hitler when the Japanese general appears. Most of the violence is poorly choreographed. Even the guns are poorly managed. Almost everyone does in the end with Wong declaring how China will never surrender to the Japanese and how they stand for freedom and such. Interesting watch for me.

Not D00M recommended. Watched it on an whim because it was short.

We have those quarters at the shop. Ask your cub for one.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.
