Gave this a rewatch as a birthday treat. The thing I disdain about the classic KF flicks on AP is that you can only watch the English dubs and they’re gawdawful. Wong Fei Hung (Jackie’s role) is dubbed as Frankie Wong. That’s like changing King Arthur’s name to Artie Dragon. Ultimately this remains a silly story, an enabler of alcoholism, and Frankie is such an arsehole, but man - Jackie’s physicality is over the top. It’s Yuen WooPing choreography with some to the top stars at their peak. Wonderful stuff. No matter how dumb these stories can be, I will always respect Jackie for his 70s & 80s period. He was simply incredible then - still unmatched by today’s stars.
