Robots
#1
I'm not sure if this qualifies, since we all know cartoons aren't film, even cgi ones. But this thread will surely bait a comment out of HK, so what the heck...

Robots sucked. Even my kid agreed. Robin Williams stole the show - there were other name actors/actresses, but they all pale in comparison to Mork. I mean this guy was built to voice cartoons. But the plot was pointless; it lost my interest almost immediately. I liked the Tom Waits song, but I always like Tom Waits song. It was cool to look at for a few minutes, but that wore off quickly. Tara's favorite part was when Mork's tush fell off. My favorite part was when it ended. No comparison to Barbie's Fairytopia.

I had tried to watch this at work, and as soon as the Robin Williams character came on, I walked out. He's worn out his animated welcome, in my book. It's always the same.

Still, we bought it. We buy pretty much everything, except Barbie Fairytopia. Watched it over the weekend, and we got through it ok. Wasn't great, and probably won't get many repeat viewings. Still, there was some pretty textures and interesting lighting. Blue Sky has a killer renderer, so they always have some nice digital eye candy.

But, yeah, pretty pointless. Confusing, kinda boring. The director came to Pixar and spoke. He didn't really event attempt to make much in the way of excuses for the final outcome. We got the sense that he was hemmed in by time and budget constraints, all the while getting "direction" from Fox "creative executives". Since I know he's a good film maker, I'm inclinded to believe he could do better, given the chance.

Too bad it just showed up from Netlflix. Maybe there is something in the outtakes to enjoy.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

if you want outtakes, you gotta see Barbie's Princess and the Pauper. Tongue
