Lightyear (2022)
#1
Okay. Bear with me. I enjoyed Lightyear. Once you've recovered I'll explain.

It was good. It was fun adventure romp. Lightyear and company crash on a planet and have to figure out a way to get off the planet. Along the way, Lightyear has to learn a lesson, but that is par for the course for Disney. It was a little heavy handed but I tried to let it roll off me. But there were good twists. There was a funny cat. I laughed a few times. It was fun.

I think the movie didn't succeed in the public eye was because it was a Disney Film with a same sex marriage. OH THE HORROR! But they never dwelt on it. It was just there. But suddenly Disney is this woke monster that doesn't understand family values. The women even had the audacity to kiss! And I think that is why people didn't go to the movies to see this. I also think not having Tim Allen in it hurt them among a certain portion of the population. Another example of Disney shutting down conservative America.

Anyway. I enjoyed it.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Saw it, too. Enjoyed it, but it was a little slow/somber. There's a montage bit that feels like a throwback to Up!...so much melancholy...I watched the BTS on Disney+ and they talked about how this was made during Covid where everyone was struggling with isolation, separation, and work/life balance. If I were a kid watching this, I don't know if I would be filled with desire for a Buzz action doll, but I first saw Silent Running, another melancholy movie, when I was about 10 and it became my favorite movie up until Star Wars came out, so who knows...

The cat was fun. I didn't mind/notice the lack of Tim Allen. I liked the light-machetes. I didn't see the twist coming, so that was nice, too.

All true. It was bit melancholy. Not a laugh riot. But there were some chuckles.
