The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019)
#1
Quirky yet very intriguing. Here is a film that gets SF, at least my romanticized memory of SF from living there nearly 30 years ago now. It's fascinating storytelling in terms of camerawork and peripheral details, a real love/hate postcard to SF. We both enjoyed it for its fresh vision and style. It's artsy, funny, tragic, and not really about race in the way I anticipated. Current events have hypersensitized me and their are racial elements, but that's not all this is about. In the end, we both found it kind of sweet, even though it's really very bittersweet.

No sword fights. Recommended for DOOMers who've lived in SF, or even Daly City. Really curious to hear PPFY's reaction to this, so a strong rec to the lone DOOMer who has lived there the longest of any of us.
