I vaguely remember this story of a young man shot to death by BART transit cops at Frutivale station. The movie shows the last day of Oscar's life. Starting the movie with the actual cel phone footage of the shooting makes every moment of the film full of portents and gives irony to statements about plans for the future. The BART trains appear in many background shots as an evil specter of death. The shots of the last train he takes from San Francisco are especially moody and dark.
Since the film starts with Oscar's death, there aren't a lot of surprises to the film. All the character notes are about what you expect from a young black man growing up in Hayward. They seem almost stereotypes.
A good character study but not especially ground breaking.
