The Pursuit of Love

Starring the Widow. You know, I’ve had dinner with her. Sat right next to her. We met several times. Have I mentioned that before? She’s so much hotter in person.

Emily plays Fanny, an educated daughter of a runaway mom known in the family as The Bolter. Downton’s Lady Rose is Linda, her wild at heart cousin. They live in oppressive England just prior to WWII. The series chronicles their tumultuous relationship from teenagers to moms and into the war. They bath together - no actual nudity but they are clearly nude while shooting.

Sherlock’s Moriarty is their eccentric neighbor. He’s great.

It’s got an odd style, almost parody, great sets, locations, and costumes. It goes from an artsy period piece to Motown/rock driven scenes. It’s funny, at least to us.

Emily and Lily are solid. Emily narrates, which reminds me of our intimate conversation in that posh restaurant in Dublin. Such sweet memories.

Three hour long eps - we’re two deep.

There is a sword fight - in a movie they watch. Only recommended for Widow fans.

Finished this. It was enjoyable. I ended up delighted by its overblown color schemes and costumes. It got absurdly soap opera but Emily got to show off her acting chops - she really is quite good at what she does with that porcelain perfect face of hers. And Lily got to be vacuous and sexy.

I think I wound up liking it more than Stacy, but it’s probably my lingering Widow crush. I really did have dinner seated next to her. She is so gorgeous in real life.
