Okay, I was sucked in by the fact this film was made on location in Budapest, Hungary. In the trailer, I saw the parliament building and the Chain Bridge. I was hooked. Sadly, I was hooked.
This was an Italian language farce that should have been left in Europe unrecognized. But no, Netflix bought and it made it available for all to see. Shame, Netflix, shame.
Basically, the Italian Prime Minister plans a government trip to Hungary where he can be alone with the the head of the democratic opposition and have an affair. The Democratic opposition is this wildly attractive statuesque blonde who wears glasses to make her appear intelligent. She spends a good portion of the movie in her underwear.
Maybe the play was funnier to the Italians. There is a lot of mistaken identity. There's an almost dead body that everybody has to hide and the body refuse to remain dead. A jealous husband shows up. A neglected wife shows up. The bell hop is constantly looking for trips. The maid talks about a porn film she was in. People keep walking into the guest suite unexpectedly.
It felt like a stage play where they stayed in one room a lot and had a bunch of activity.
And the overall feeling I got was unfunny. They wanted to be funny. The actors delivered the lines like they were supposed to be funny. The situations and mistaken identities could have been funny. But nothing was funny.
As for them being in Budapest? It was kind of a waste. The majority of the film took place inside the Hotel Gellert in the presidential suite. There were a few exterior shots. They did show the grand market and were on one of the bridges for the finale. But it didn't show enough to make it worth my while.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
