The Peripheral by William Gibson
#1
Still reading. But I feel like I'm learning a new language that I still don't quite understand when reading his prose. Is that just me or is that a usual reaction to Gibson. Probably why I haven't read any of his books in decades. The last one might have been Neuromancer. Probably the first one, too.

All done. For all the verbal fireworks and creative world building, the story underneath it seemed pretty slight. And the dramatic conclusion wasn't all that dramatic. It felt like the story was happening to the protagonists and they really didn't have any thing to do with what it is going on. And a lot of the big set pieces seemed to happen off stage and we only hear about them second hand.

So, once I waded through the verbiage all I felt was "this is it?"
