I'm writing this while watching an episode starring Aries Spears (Mad TV) and Timothy Leary (just mad). Brisco and faithful companion Lord Bowler are escorting the black-clad sexy, English, female super-spy Emma Steed to prison.
You see, Brisco has just defeated his arch-enemy John Bly, who had travelled from the year 2300 to find the golden orbs that hold limitless power. Brisco's father had been murdered by Bly while he was away at Harvard Law School. Brisco, seeking to avenge his father's murder, gave up law and turned bounty hunter.
A group of wealthy investors, also after Bly (and the orbs), hire Brisco to hunt him and his gang down one by one. There is time-travel, resurrection, super-strength, smart horses, John Astin as Bruce Cambell's 'Q' and countless 'future' references.
This show is freaking insane. Very tongue-in-cheek, with so many nods to pop culture you'll get whiplash if you catch them all. Basically an updated 'Wild Wild West' that was aimed at viewers to young to remember the original and to old to enjoy the Western theme.
The story goes that Fox couldn't afford to produce both 'X-Files' and 'Brisco County, Jr.' . Brisco drew the short straw and that was that.
Still a hell of a lot of fun. Julius Carry out-Mr.Ts Mr.T as the perpetually angry sidekick, but damn if I didn't cry when he said his goodbyes to Brisco (NO SPOILERS).
If you have the time and a NetFlix account, rent these babies.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the great dialog. Timothy Leary just said (afte being hit on the head) "Don't let anyone ever tell you a bludgeon-induced catatonia is better than an herbal one..."
