By this point, Palin has shot more material for travel videos than he has ever shot for Python. but they can be very entertaining.
In this incarnation, Micheal takes some time off from jet setting to visit the new countries of the EU or prospective countries. Anyway, he's in the Balkans and Turkey. Which is the reason I picked this up for the Queen and I to see. He was going to Istanbul and Ephesus. What's not to like?
It's not really a scenic places of Europe as it is a place where Palin can go and try the local liquor. He was in Split. He drank Raki. He was on an Island off Dalmatio. He drank with the locals. He was in Bosnia. We saw land minds. The Queen and I were noticing a disturbing trend. We weren't seeing a lot of the places he was seeing. Sure people are grand and all, but can't we see a little of the local architecture?
He never did. When he got to Istanbul, rather than taking in Topkapi or the Blue Mosque or Hagia Sophia, he took a belly dancing lesson. When we got to Ephesus, we saw the fine sport of Camel Wrestling. Not man against camel, camel against camel. Not even a peak at the amphitheater. Grrrr.
