And we’re back at Mar de Jade

We were going to bail this year, but then this room with a spectacular opened up and we decided if it’s the end of times, we might as well go out in style. A bit of a rugged ride in. Spent an hour on the puerto Vallerta tarmac waited for a gate to open, then we weren't registered for our taxi do to a snafu, then by the time we got here, my head was splitting because I forgot to have anything caffeinated all day.

But we took our first yoga class and everything fell into place. Then I gorged myself on enchiladas, cheesecake & chocolate mousse, along with a mixed juice Thar I never thought would go well together - pineapple & celery. 

Now I’m stuffed, lying in bed. Stacy likes the balcony so much she’s thinking of sleeping out there. 

It’s so good to be back here. I had to work my arse off to get here with the holiday sales but now when it comes to work idgaf.  

We’re here for a week.

So it’s 23 hours of yoga in 5 & 2 1/2s days (travel days on either end. The flight from SJC to PV was only 3 hours but we had to be at the vanpool pickup at 5am and it took us an extra hour to clear the airport for another hour ride to the retreat center.

It’s a strong group, more advanced students than the past two years so Maya came out swinging. Class 1 (last night) was restorative from travel. This morning was solid - arm balances and more challenging stuff. 

I forgot how much I love fresh papaya in the morning. We had nachos for breaky, plus mushroom omelets. I had two omelets. 

We walked the beach after breaky. Now time to lay out and read. And nap.

Stacy saw a spray from our balcony yesterday. Today we went on a whale watch boat and got close to a whale family, papa whale, mama whale & baby whale - so cute! Also saw some pufferfish which are hecka evil looking, like toxic lovecraftian spike balls with nasty weird fins. Didn’t like that at all. 

Yoga is kicking my butt, like it does. The food has been scrumptious - i only stop eating to prepare for yoga, then I gorge myself on tropical fruits & veggies, locally source eggs and seafood, and wacky desserts like carrot cookies & guava pie. 

Getting bit to shit by some parasites that I have yet to see. Got well over a dozen bites which Im treating with tiger balm and excessive sun. 

Rn now all I hear is the surf and a tuba from a mariachi band in town.

A yoga friend got stung by a jellyfish. A lot of people are swimming but between the sting rays, pufferfish, jellyfish and being covered in bites that’ll light me up like hit acupuncture needles in all the wrong points, I’m not swimming in the ocean. I’ll probably hot tub. Stacy went in and said it wasn’t very hot and there've been some kids dominating the hot tub so I’ll wait until later.

I’m at over 2 dozen bites now. Treating with tiger balm, which helps a lot but makes me smell like tiger balm (something i mocked when traveling with a Taiji group in. China once). If it’s like last year, the tiny bites will swell when I get home and leave nasty scars. Been tanning my legs in a flailing effort to fade my scars from last year. My skin scars so easily now. Makes me look like a Star Trek trill (and not a sexy one).
