E.T. But instead of appearing to kids, it’s seniors. Kingsley vanishes into the role of an elderly widower with the onset of dementia in a small community in PA. Jane Curtin is one of his two friends, and she still has her comic chops. It’s a small, sweet film, one that appeals to me more having been my parents’ caregiver for coming up on two decades now, so some of the issues it touches are painfully familiar. The alien is well played and the homages to E.T. (and ALF) are subtle yet on point. I enjoyed it. Not sure if I D00M recommend it - perhaps to that cluster of D00M softies.
