Spoiler The movie title is deceptive. Spoiler
I am not happy with the portrayal of Godzilla as a brainless lizard. There have been many offerings in the canon where he emoted more. There is a sea battle, and then later, a battle amongst the buildings of Hong Kong with some pretty cool colored neon reflecting everywhere.
There were a couple of “oh my gosh, pending doom” moments that fizzled and the plot continues.
I don’t recall the last entry in the Godzilla franchise very well. I don’t remember which of the other Titans mere mentioned or had onscreen time, but Ghidorah gets a moment in this one.
Essentially, stuff happens, magical technology is involved, the threats are thwarted and then it’s over and every one is happy.
Meh. No sword fights but there is a glowing battle axe.

I put the brain in neutral and enjoyed this outing. I concur with tg about the depiction of Godzilla. King Kong was way more interesting.
Also, I couldn't remember the genesis of many of the characters in the film except for Millie Bobby Brown who am I starting to dislike. They could have excised her and father from the film and no one would have been the wiser. I do like the Conspiracy Podcaster. He added some nice levity to the film. Neon burning Hong Kong looked really good. There is one spectacular moment towards the end of the film, where you will go of course., what else would you do. It's a brilliant moment. There was a lot of plot stuff and talking stuff that detracted from big Kaiju hitting each other.
I also noticed that Godzilla no longer is an answer to the folly of man but just protects us from other Kaiju.
My line for the night was when I referred to guy running Apex as a man who had been taking Ricardo Montalban lessons.
I enjoyed it. Let your scoffing commence.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Wow. That was...
...bad. Painfully so.
Way too much dumb talky talk plot. Hollow earth? srsly? All just to get Kong's lightsaber axe? That was so unfair. Godzilla needed... a sword.
Agreed on Godzilla not being a dumb lizard. He's a dad. He's the king of monster island. I always rejected that Kong could beat him because he's got an extra whippy tail and radioactive breath. The big ape just has flammable hair.
Astonishingly, I liked the kids best. Eleven, the Wilder kid, the deaf kid - they were the most interesting. Kids have always been a huge part of the kaiju genre and I've always hated them but they worked here, probably because everyone else was so waste of spaces. Anything the adults said was cliche and pointless. I was finishing a lot of sentences because they took too long with the dramatic pauses to get to the end. Just get to the kaiju fights.
The kaiju fights were ok. They might have been awesome on the big screen. My little laptop detracted a lot. Might've been good in 3d.
I need to watch Godzilla v Mechagodzilla again.

It's really good and well worth your time , especially if you're a Watiti fan. I undersold it in my original D00M review.
