Factors to consider in DM's D00M review:
1. I enjoyed Captain Marvel. Brie is hawt.
2. I loved Ms Marvel. No one has spoken so loudly for the fandom than Iman Vellani. She lives the dream.
3. It was great to reunite with Patrick. Too short. He volunteered to write all of the KFM review so I could just enjoy (and edit, but that's tomorrow).
4. We saw it in IMAX from the 3rd row.
5. We had the IMAX to ourselves. Press only. Maybe a dozen of us at most. The rep said that we could chose any of the 400 seats we liked.
6. They gave us free cocktails. Plugo had a healthy pour of a Tanqueray G&T. I had a double shot of Glenfiddich 15 neat.
D00M review = Muthaflerkin female forward fun. Does NOT overstay its welcome. Good teaser cameos (Patrick had to decode the mid-credits scene for me).
D00M recommended.

However this takes some absurd turns. If you’re not down with them, it might ruin it for you. I enjoyed them (you’ll understand why when you see them). Haters gonna hate on them and that’s fine. Those haters aren’t the target audience.

The more I think about it (the more I sober up), those absurd turns take a risk that I'll define as Barbie-esque. The haters are going to hate on it fiercely. Greg may hate on it fiercely too. As might a few more of you. But I was down with the two major absrud twists. The first was so Bollywood; the second was flerkin cute. Serious MCU fans will reject these, to which I'd respond, 'why so serious?'
The film struggles to find a happy medium between Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel. I just went with the Ms Marvel vibe and was entertained. It would be easy to get caught in between and hate on it.

There is a lot of pre-hate for this film. Rumors are surfacing that the director went on to another picture during postproduction. The film is short so fanboys object to that.
I say bring it on. I can hate the film on it's own merits.

I appreciated that it was shorter. Any longer and it would’ve grown tiresome.
And this one is for the fangirls, not the fanboys. Fanboys hate that. Having raised a daughter, I can relate to the fangirl side. This not only passes the Bechdel test, it surpasses it.
The play for K-fans is jarring but I found it funny.

The Queen was well pleased by this outing.
I should stop there but I won't.
This was not the Captain Marvel and Nick Fury of previous incarnations. Where was the Captain Marvel that stood off Ronan's Invasion fleet all by herself? Not this simpering crybaby that appears in this movie. And when does Fury get all jokey and cat cuddly?
As usual I have a ton of questions that can't be answered. There was a lot of the women standing around talking to advance the plot. There were quite a lot of funny bits but it seems like they did them to be funny rather than to advance the story. A lot of the burden of the storytelling was on the audience to bridge things or come up with explanations for why things happened or existed.

The Marvels was not a good movie.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.
