The Lone Ranger (2013)
#1
That's right. I'm wasting my time here. I'm taking another for the team. My father really liked this film.

I don't like my heroes to be wimps. And Arnie Hammer as the Lone Ranger is a grade-A wimp. He's still using the accent he used in The Social Network. He plays a tenderfoot lawyer who comes back to town. His brother, the Ranger, is the real hero, the guy you want to root for. And it takes a long time for us to even get to the part where he becomes the Lone Ranger. And he is not very good at it. Tonto actually has a better back story which Depp uses as his basis for scenery chewing.

Yes, there are some awesome train stunts which seem to last forever. The whole thing could have used a serious case of the editing. The jokes are all very heavy handed. The plot is very transparent as in the train company is coming to steal the land so they can all be rich and they are going to blames there actions on the depredations of the Indians. Sigh.

And the reason this film cost a fortune to make was that they built their own train track out in Monument valley. And they also built two working train engines. Cheese and Rice those things cost a lot of money.

The best part for me was seeing the making of bits about the actual constructions of the trains and how they did the great train stunts. I even got to see one of my old bosses in the clip.

On the whole, pass. The film isn't as bad as the razzies make it out to be, but maybe you should save this until there is nothing else to watch on the plane?
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit
