Police broke into a flat after taking a 999 call... from a highly strung cat.
Officers found two kittens on their own and realised one must have pressed three nines on the handset.
The flat’s owner, sound engineer James Cocksedge, 33, of Kilburn, North London, said of the kitten, named Bruce Lee: “He jumps when the phone rings.
“So I imagine when someone rang, he went nuts and somehow pressed nine three times.”
Cops told astonished Mr Cocksedge: “Don’t worry. We have had to force entry, but the cat is all right.”
He was found cringing beneath a pile of clothes in a wardrobe after the police stormed in.
Mr Cocksedge said he did not blame the cat for what happened as he seemed upset after the encounter.
He added: "I found him looking guilty at the back of the wardrobe and I put two and two together.”
Police said all 999 calls are taken seriously.
