Zero Dark Thirty

Yay, torture.

It was a really well made film that could have easily lost about thirty minutes worth of screen time. I would have lost some of the torture scenes. They were really uncomfortable to watch which was probably the point.

I don't know why Jessica Chastain is the front runner for the Oscar since her character seems to only have the one note and she doesn't seem to do all that much.

But it was a good way to see the evolution of the hunt for UBL.

I want to say this was cathartic - not because it was, just because I like the word 'cathartic.' c-a-t-h-a-r-t-i-c. The only other 'cath' words I use often are catheter and catholic.

It was morally ambiguous - torture and lots of it (which I thought was pretty tame but too much Asian cinema has warped me on that), cold blooded assassination, political waffling, a lame super copter that crashes randomly, a few good explosions. I liked the first torturer's character, Dan. Greg's right, Chastian has one note and that's 'fuck you, i'm right' and of course, we know she is. That being said, I do like her work, not only as a fiery ginger, but she's another actress that has extra muscles in her neck which gives her a broader range of neck acting. It bugged me that OBL had a huge cache of 'puters in his hideout fortress mansion, but there was no way to hack into that.

I should also say that the Wu-Tang Clan reference amused me greatly.
