So, the season ended on Friday. It was almost the end of the series but Fox decided to let them come back for an additional 13 episodes. But I think they made this episode before that decision was made and it influenced how the story was told.
For instance, they have had a main bad guy for the entire season and most of the season revolved around the hunt for him and how to thwart his designs. But for the finale, they got to have a main character big name start return, a star who had announced his retirement from acting. So, the bad guy had to go and all his actions now became property of the main famous actor. I think it was a cheat and famous guy did a horrible job. All his scenes were ACTING!!!!
They also played fast and loose with some of the back story of the characters. One guy who up to this point had been positioned as the guy who knew everything suddenly didn't know something for no reason. Our lead actress came down with super powers. One of the supporting cast used her heretofore unknown super gun and fighting skills.
The whole episode left me scratching my head. It was like people who had heard about the show decided to write an episode and this is what they came up with. So it looked and sounded like a Fringe episode but it didn't feel like a very good Fringe episode.
That being said, I can't wait for next season.
