This was on TCM the other night, and I had to watch it. I hadn't seen it since I was in high school. Lean had a great eye, so the film looks great, and made me wish the TV was bigger (or that the Stanford in Palo Alto would screen it so I can see it on a big screen).

I had not noticed the cameo of a young Werner Herzog before.

Now I wonder what the book is like.

How odd is it that Julie Christie forty three years after Dr. Zhivago is still acting and winning awards? Last night she got best Actress for "Away from Me" from the Screen Actor's guild. The last thing I remember her being is was "Heaven Can Wait" with Warren Beatty.
