RE: I'm more broken than you - Greg - 06-28-2022 I'm off to get x-rays tomorrow on my knees to see what the problem is. The doctor suggested more ibuprofen. I'm also now taking B-12 to help with the foot neuropathy. She basically said I'm old and starting to break down. Time to limit the damage. RE: I'm more broken than you - Drunk Monk - 06-28-2022 FTW? Naw. To be continued… RE: I'm more broken than you - Greg - 06-28-2022 The race to the bottom continues. RE: I'm more broken than you - Greg - 06-29-2022 I'm heading down to Fresno to the big Kaiser to get some x-rays today. RE: I'm more broken than you - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 06-29-2022 Sounds like a heavy in a noir novel: The Big Kaiser RE: I'm more broken than you - Drunk Monk - 06-29-2022 I don’t know what the hell is going on with my shoulder. It’s bad. It’s radiating down my back and my left arm to my hand - a deep dull pain that’s driving me mad. I’ve been coping with some growing left shoulder pain for several weeks. I haven’t been able to raise my left arm without a pinch. Maybe I pulled it doing that stretcher carry off the shoreline lawn at Dead & Co #1. Maybe I exacerbated that by donning my weighted backpack on a few of Yuki’s dog park trips. I’m back on the cyclobenzaprine and plan to up the dosage tomorrow, plus heating pad and stretching exercises. I’ve been ok when horizontal but not right now. I’ve never experienced pain like this. That’s one of life’s gifts - there’s always new pains to experience. I thought it was improving this morning but it’s taken a turn for the worse tonight. It’s bordering on crippling - I’ve lost most of my strength in my arm now. Bursitis? A pinched disc? My arthritic neural foramenal narrowing tightening more? It’s been a week now. I need to reach out to my chiropractor who Ive not seen since the pandemic. Or maybe the big Kaiser. Beat that, limpy bro. RE: I'm more broken than you - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 06-30-2022 "Frozen Shoulder" might be the winner; I know several folks who have had it, all active people, and they all hated it. I'll bet 10,000 Quatloos on Frozen Shoulder. RE: I'm more broken than you - Greg - 06-30-2022 You will do what the Big Kaiser tells you to do and like it. My sister had the frozen shoulder. She was not a fan. According to the x-rays, I have mild arthritis in my knee. Good times. Today, I'm taking an online class to strengthen my knee. I follow that up with some inperson rehab. RE: I'm more broken than you - cranefly - 06-30-2022 Yesterday I saw the Big Kaiser for an MRI of the spine. Last month I had one of the brain, another of the cervical spine (neck). This one was for the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae. Before I went in, the technician grabbed my shoulder and asked if I was okay. "You look a little unstable." I told him it was the neurological problem I was here to get diagnosed. This MRI takes an hour. Right away I discovered a problem. My neck had no support. It was like doing a plank across two chairs with my neck. But foolish me, I was determined to stick out. Absolutely miserable trying to stay still for so long. Near the end, he radioed in that he was seeing some movement and was I okay. I mentioned the neck. He couldn't hear my answer but opened the machine's end so he could. He proceeded to shove stuff under my neck until I said it was much better. He told me he'd have to rerun the last part of the MRI. Okay, I'm ready. No sooner does he start than I realize the neck is still planking. Being a fool once again, I decide to stick it out. What a long ten minutes that was. I was afraid I'd come out with a neck issue that might last weeks. But I was okay as soon as I emerged. My noggin and whole spine show signs of wear. Guess I should have kept it in the original packaging. But nothing is significantly bad. It's scary but nice to have a reference picture of your whole spine to compare with later if you do develop problems. But this this whole direction of testing seems misdirected and overly expensive. RE: I'm more broken than you - Greg - 06-30-2022 My world view has switched to "From now on, there will be pain" So, I went out for a 45 minute walk. Which, oddly, is one of the things you are supposed to do to alleviate the issue.
