Play Dirty.
I ignored the little voice that said "don't do it" and watched this. Marky-Mark stars as Parker, the famous Donald Westlake character they keep trying to make a tent-pole franchise around. The movie starts mid-robbery which goes poorly. Then they go to the hide-out to divvy up the cash, which also goes poorly. This leads Parker on his quest, which turns into another quest. Then it just spirals into unalloyed dumbness.
Shane Black directs which is another sign that maybe I should skip this. I don't think he's done anything well since writing Lethal Weapon. There are some really good actions sequences. There are some good twists but then the film keeps twisting and twisting and who knows what the hell is going on except they need to get the thing before somebody else gets the thing.
Tony Shaloub took his overacting medication so he chews scenery with abandon. Wahlberg plays Wahlberg. There were some weird tones and choices from the other characters. They were given quirks that don't really pay off. Like I said, the end is just a mess and a lot of the big reveals you could see from miles away.
