Salem's Lot (2024)
#1
Well, that was bad. I should have guessed by the fact it sat on the shelf for two years.

To be fair, this is one of the few Stephen King books I have not read. Nor did I see the David Soul version. I came at this fresh. Still bad.

It did have all the Stephen King quirks. There was a writer and a teacher and an alcoholic. There was a group of kids. It was set in Maine, of all places. The whole thing was just corny. They used the traditional vampire rules. The movie was set in the seventies which makes it a period piece at this point. The funniest thing was people being chased by the advancing shadows as the sun set. And the sun set pretty fast. I think the daylight only lasted a couple of hours in Salem's Lot.

Give this one a miss.

A few scenes from the David Soul version remain fixed in my brain. Back then, they were cool. Now I’m sure they are terribly dated. I don’t care to go back for it now though. And I don’t really have an interest in this.

By ‘traditional vampire rules’ do they wear capes? Because capes are cool.

I bet this would make a great musical.

I can’t remember if I ever read this. Maybe during my King phase? But since I don’t remember, it doesn’t count.

As Edna Mode said, "No Capes"

I guess more Catholic centered Vampires. They hate crosses and holy water. They don't go into churches. They have to be invited into your home. Sunlight hurts them. The old vampire standbys.
