Furiosa
#1
So much glaring. ATJ had more eye flashes than dialog. When I walked from the theater after Fury Road, I felt like I had been strapped to the front of a train for 2.5 hours. Not so with this. Lots of exposition, but not really...I think Furiosa's robotic arm was a pretty particular character detail in Fury Road and in this prequel, they only touch on its origin for a moment.

There was some mayhem, lot's of flying contraptions, but it felt a bit like a rehash from The Road Warrior a bit.

Lots of questions...what is a Bullet Farm?

They cast an actress to play young Furiosa and she does look a heck of a lot like ATJ.

When I was hoping for another Road Warrior, I got Thunderdome instead. This installment hit me the same way...meh.

Yeah, for the cinematography and the contraptions.

What does this headline tell you:

How they got the young actress and ATJ to look alike:

I rather enjoyed that. It was a good ‘park your brain outside’ flick for a flight. The 2.5 hour running time was a bit much but there was enough visuals going on that kept me occupied. My Chromebook screen hide the cgi well enough and there were some great chase / moving siege moments like the original. Some scenes looked so panoramic but I couldn’t tell if they were real or cgi. I imagine this would’ve been fun in imax.

ATJ wasn’t working for me as Furiosa because her predecessor has my heart, but given that this was mostly action pieces, she didn’t have to do much but glare.

Thor wasn’t fooling me with the fake nose. Still Thor. Again, permissible because it was more about the action and the characters were cardboard. I liked his character’s ultimate fate.

The bullet farm was like a cherry orchard, only the fruit was bullets.

I’m enjoying the expanding Maxverse. It’s like the death metal version of the Badlands.

D00M recommended if you like car chases.

What kind of animal doesn't like car chases?

Still trying to get a window of opportunity to watch this.

George Miller does like to film car chases. Most of his career is based on it.

He’s work shines here. If you like his car chases, and I do, you’ll like this.

And done. Oddly, I thought there would be more car chases. But the car chases were epic. I kept thinking how does this keep going?

When we aren't doing car chases, the film plot is kind of clunky. The film suffers from not having that swaggering Mad Max hero in the center of the film. And Chris Helmsworth was just odd throughout. Here, Chris, chew this scenery.
