Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023)
#1
We saw the free episode last night. It was pretty fun. I like how Tokyo is just learning to live with Kaiju. There was a very fun interaction in Kazakhstan because of course one of the scientists wanted a sample. We will watch more when we renew our Apple subscription some time in the New Year.

I received an Apple Gift Card for Christmas. When I turned it in, I earned two free months of Apple+. Total score. I celebrated by watching Ep02 of Monarch.

The Monarch people arrive in Tokyo to round up the kids. The kids run off to find a helper from the past. Meanwhile they flash back to the 1950s for the discovery of the monsters. They found a ship far away from where it sank. And they find problems.

I have questions, but I'm just going to roll with it. I think the idea for the show is to showcase a different big monster every episode. Still no sign of the big guy. (No, not Reacher)

Ep04 Kurt Russel and the kids flee from Monarch. The flashback shows the government is still not to be trusted although I question the efficacy of their methods since it never worked before. Kurt Russell does bring up the fact that he looks really good for being in his nineties. I guess that's a mystery we still need to solve. The big guy makes an appearance and so does another Kaiju. I guess they are just everywhere. The show is still fun but the TV show budget is starting to show.

I think we saw episode 7. Lots of traveling around to hunt for the thing or to get a clue. The show needs more monster action. I still unsure of what the show is trying to do besides find the missing father.

Ep09 The aftermath involved in getting sucked into the rift in Kazakhstan. We get a nice flashback that shows why Walsh doesn't look like he is 95 years old. Kentaro meets up with his missing dad. Still trying to make sense of who is the father of Randa. Once again the show needs more monster action.
