Indiana Jones V - Dial of Destiny
#1
I took my mom to the AMC in what used to be Sunnyvale Town Center. Tip: if you sign up for their free rewards program you get discounted tickets on tuesdays.

A fun, if not memorable, romp with the cast of characters. Made Mikkelson is a not particularly threatening villain. The young-ified Harrison ford CGI is most impressive. I was watching on the big screen and the telltale signs of fake human were had to find. If that's how good CGI is getting then the Selma hyeck black miss or episode is just around the corner and actors really should be striking for control of their own image.

Happy ending. Recommended for the closing of the threads and maybe the redemption from crystal skull

More or less agreed. The de-aging CGI was the best Ive seen, but I was watching it on a small screen. I liked the call backs with some of the original characters (although the last one was totally predictable). I liked the grumpier aging Indy although he could’ve been more sore from it all. I liked watching Indy punch nazis. None of the installments come anywhere near to the original so my bar for sequels in this franchise is low. It was well paced in the beginning, then started to lose some momentum, but concluded okay. It was better than the 2nd & 4th installments. Watchable for old times sake.

Dammit. I'm going to agree with DM and I hate it when that happens. Lots of good set pieces, the first one being the best. I thought the villains were under developed but oh, well. I feel bad for Antonio Banderas. Did he have three lines? Tangiers and Sicily looked remarkably similar and had very similar chase sequences. Really glad we introduced neighbor Larry for no pay off.

In the end, I feared it could have been a lot worse. It was solid but nothing superlative.

Might I say that punctuation could be a subject to examine in the New Year?

I started watching this and bailed after about 15 minutes. It was like watching a video game. And the horse and motorcycle chase during a parade was stupid. That's as far as I got.
