Morbius (2022)
#1
The Queen purposefully did not watch this film on a plane so we could suffer through it together. That is what marriages are built on, people.

Morbius is kind of null. It's not so horrifically bad like Venom that you can mock while you watch nor is it good so you can enjoy for that. It's just kind of there. It's like someone knew what pieces you needed for a superhero movie but didn't quite know how they worked together. I thought some of the special effects were really cool, especially for the movement but they didn't make a lot of sense. They found some quips for dialogue but only really used them once. There were kind of some big fights and action sequences but sure.

Too many cliches. Too much been there done that. You see a character, you know what that character is going to do. You know how everything was going to turn out. They even threw in some post credit sequences too, but they only kind of work if the film is a big hit and there is going to be a sequel. I'd bet a lot of money there won't be a sequel. But there wasn't supposed to be a sequel to Suicide Squad, either.

Sony is doing a poor job with it's MCU outside of Spiderman. And Spiderman works because Kevin Feige and Co. have their hands in it. Or they have a really good director overseeing it.

I'm sure the rest of you will find Morbius quite entertaining.

Not planning on watching this one. Thanks to you both for falling on that grenade.

Wasn’t on my list either. I don’t know the character. Not that I knew Venom that well either. We were offered a screener but even Patrick baulked at it.

It's funny how the MCU can just randomly generate a clunker. Morbius, Iron Fist. I guess Venom must have been good enough to have a sequel

Greg is right about the Sony issue. The MCU has a recipe to deliver entertainment. Sony keeps trying to be innovative, like DC, and those experiments have a higher rate of failure.

If you want to see DM again, you'll leave a bag of unmarked cheeses in an unmarked cooler at the corner of Seabright and Windham. Do not contact the police.

Give up cheese? Guess we're never seeing DM again.

I don’t know why I just watched this. I was warned. I went through all my queues - Amazon, Netflix, criterion, hoopla, Kanopy… nothing said ‘watch me now’
Then I was surfing mindlessly for anything before my dinner got cold. And for some unknown reason, this…

I will say my experience wasn’t as bad as Greg’s. That because I nodded off in the middle. Not sure what I missed but I didn’t care. The effects were pretty cool. The superpowers weren’t well defined. Lots of cgi bats. Too many bats. The end of credit scenes seemed important but I didn’t understand him. Michael Keaton? Srsly? Wasn’t he batman? I’m confused. I’m going back to sleep.

Definitely not D00M recommended.
