It's going to be a Star Wars sort of summer.

The latest trailer. I was surprised by the fact one of the creators directed the Bourne Identity.

E1-3: That was a lot of backstory on a character I only vaguely recall from Rogue One. But engaging. This has such a different feel than any other SW property. It’s closer to the Bladerunner vibe.

You took the deep dive. I only watched episode 1. I spent a lot of time trying to explain who Andor is to the Queen.

It's a slow build up. Not a lot of action except a nice little fight at the beginning. It is a much darker and crueler universe than regular Star Wars. I found it interesting they didn't do subtitles for the indigenous language and let you just figure out what the hell was going on. I did see some complaints about the lack of subtitles. I understand that we are in setup mode and I'm just letting everything wash over me. Some found this to be a little dull.

There’s a reason why 3 eps were released at once. E3 ends on a turning point.

I did like the way there were no subs and how that back story went into colonial abuse of the empire.

And HP1 for Mrs Dursley.

Ep02 Boy, we are moving at a glacial pace. The only people who have any spark of character are the corporate planet police guys and they are off the rails. And what's the deal with the off-tone quirky robot character? It is standard to have the quirky robot but seems out of place in this section of the universe.

My fingers are crossed that Donnie Yuen shows up. I know that Forrest Whitaker is coming in. Ooh, I did a cast search and found out another cast member I like is coming.

Anyway let's get to the running and fighting and blowing things up.

Okay. Ep03 made up for the first two episodes. Lots of action. Lots of booms. Lots of running and shooting. What every great episode needs. I liked Stellan Skarsgards character a lot. The time jumps were a bit awkward but I got it. Fun episode. If you looked close you could tell some of the shots were in the rain which always gives me flashbacks.

E4 a slower ep that introduces a lot of new characters and environments. The settings steal the stage. It’s a very different look for Star Wars - some new styles in architecture and costumes. I like the feel of it and don’t mind the slower pacing. It’s not so much character development, more world expansion. It intrigues of the Empire’s intrigues, which is also kinda fresh. Andor himself isn’t that interesting, but everything around him is.

Ep04 I really liked this one. Everyone is angry at everyone. Lots of really tense scenes. I like the introduction of the two new rebel lieutenants. I like Andor's new group in the mountains. They are all angry and distrustful. And I must say the production design on the show is really good. It does look like they are on locations rather than in the SFX Volume like they are in the Mandalorian.

And who is having the best time Stellan Skarsgaard! His character is great.

Just when we are getting ready for the big job, the show ends. Dammit!

E5 - not much really happens in this ep. It’s set up for the big heist. Nevertheless I like the world building this show presents. It’s a very different game on Star Wars. Despite its sluggish pacing, I’m still engaged.

One thing did break the spell for me however. The kid who had the old school ‘scanner’ - that was a collapsible Polaroid camera from the 80s with a few extra knobs attached. I know because I had one exactly like it. It was a cumbersome beast that I took to Mexico when my grandfather took me on a tour as a graduation present. I don’t know where any of those photos went…

Ep05 So much slowness. I did love the polaroid SX-70 camera. To be fair, the light saber handle is based on a flashbulb attachment for a camera, too. I am interested. A lot of great family dynamics going on in Mon Motha's house. Same goes for the fired security officer. We all know that mother. Even Stellan is told there is nothing he can do now but wait. I thought for sure this would be the heist episode but they've delayed it one more week.

E6 This was the episode we were looking for. The heist is on!

Great stuff. Those blasters hit hard. Solid Rogue One vibes.

That was quite the fun little episode. Lots of stuff happening. It must be weird for the rebellion when the people of the Empire can hit what they are shooting at. I also don't understand the logic of the heist. We'll just get our prisoners to load up the gold. And we don't have better automated loaders to do that job. But that's about it. Boy, the natives like to sing. I thought they would be more involved once the headman realized he wasn't being translated properly.

But enjoyable. Can't wait for next week's episode.
