While getting my flu shot, peer pressure was used to get me to set an appointment for a Shingles vaccination. That occurred today. I was rudely informed that it will be the first of two. Likely reactions for the shot include sore arm and flu like symptoms.
Been there. Done that.

The flu like systems from the Shingles vaccine have finally kicked in. I never had anything like this from the Covid shots. The sore arm is much more sore.

Do we need a separate Shingles thread?
Lord I hope not...

I'm thinking a D00MP00L thread might be the epitome of gallows humor here now...

A friend of mine (our age) got shingles last year (or was it the year before...oh COVID....). Anyway, she said it really really sucked and has been telling everyone to get their shingles vax. I was trying to figure from Aetna out if I can just drop in at the local pharmacy, or do I have to go thru an in-network provider to get insurance coverage. I called 5 of the closest in-network providers and all of them are disconnected numbers. I finally did an online chat with an Aetna person and asked and they said I could just go to CVS. I called the local one (in Target) and they don't take appointments, but said they have the vax in stock and to just come on down for a walk-in appt. I'm planning to go for the 1st shot at the end of the month. Shannon is on Kaiser and can't go anywhere but there for hers. since we heard this shot is an ass kicker, we wanted to get them done at the same time and that's the earliest she could schedule one...

i had a very small patch of shingles on my head a couple of years ago. The doctor recommended the vaccine when I was last in, but a friend had just gotten it and had bad side effects, so I put it off. I need to go in and do it.

My arm at the injection site hurts like hell. It balances out the bursitis in the other arm very nicely so no matter how I raise my arm or reach for something, it hurts. I thought I was going to sail through this injection as well as I did the Covid shot until late yesterday when the Shingles vaccine decided to show me who was boss. I ran a really high fever, had the chills and couldn't do much more than sit there. Fortunately, sometime during the night, the fever broke. I'm still feeling nauseous. The whole event makes me not want to go back for the second shot.
I've had shingles twice. The first time, the nerve effected was over my chest so it felt like someone was squeezing my heart all day long. But my symptoms were nowhere near as bad as Scapino who had a bad case for the second half of 2021.

You are in for a treat in the next 24 hours. Still better than the alternative.

Of all the vaccines I've taken, the shingles one hit me the hardest. Still better than having shingles.

You are late to the colonoscopy party, my friend. And past due.

Way past due. I know a couple of people that had colon cancer recently. One caught it early and only had to have part of his colon removed.
Get it scheduled ASAP. All of you. The ass you save may be your own.
