I found out who I had to sign up with in order to get HBOMax as part of the HBO package and not have to pay extra.
And our first venture back was watching WW84 or whatever the proper title should. Gal Gadot is back along with Pedro Pascal (Mandolorian) and Kristen Wiig. Basically by 1984 WW is hiding out and sulking with occasional forays out to do good. But she doesn't want people to know it's her. This is a far cry from the WW of 1917 who would jump into any battle to do good which made all the people around her better. And to be honest, I did not like the 1984 WW. Lots of whining.
The story was very convuluted and they didn't explain about how things work very well. Both Pascal and Wiig get powers and naturally they aren't going to do good with them. First, I didn't like the Mandolorain being so evil. And I've never really liked Wiig to begin with so that obviously colored my reception to her.
I didn't think the action sequences were all that great. They were much more fun in WW. And the ending, well you'll just have to see it.
WW84 pales in the shadow of WW.
And as our Arab friends point, it's probably one of the most racist films of the year, too.

I got to the Christopher Pike part and gave up. I did note the hobo in the park was reading “Waiting for Gadot”. That “Easter egg” came off as pretty heavy-handed/obvious.
Meh

Diana Prince is officially heading back to the big screen for a third “Wonder Woman” movie. Warner Bros. has fast-tracked development on another installment in the DC Comics franchise, with Gal Gadot returning to star as the title heroine and Patty Jenkins back to write and direct the concluding entry in the superhero trilogy.
The announcement comes on the heels of the release of “Wonder Woman 1984,” the studio’s superhero sequel that debuted on the company’s streaming service and in select movie theaters on Christmas Day.
Warner Bros. said the third “Wonder Woman” movie will have a traditional theatrical release.
“As fans around the world continue to embrace Diana Prince, driving the strong opening weekend performance of ‘Wonder Woman 1984,’ we are excited to be able to continue her story with our real life Wonder Women — Gal and Patty — who will return to conclude the long-planned theatrical trilogy,” said Warner Bros. chief Toby Emmerich.
Though many opted to watch “Wonder Woman 1984” at home, the film still generated surprisingly robust ticket sales — at least for pandemic times. “Wonder Woman 1984” collected $16.7 million from 2,100 North American theaters, the best opening weekend to date in the coronavirus era. In terms of HBO Max viewers, the studio said nearly half of the platform’s retail subscribers watched the film on Friday, with millions more viewing through cable or wireless access. HBO Max, which launched in May, currently has 12.6 million active users.
“‘Wonder Woman 1984’ broke records and exceeded our expectations across all of our key viewing and subscriber metrics in its first 24 hours on the service, and the interest and momentum we’re seeing indicates this will likely continue well beyond the weekend,” said Andy Forssell, head of WarnerMedia’s direct-to-consumer business. “During these very difficult times, it was nice to give families the option of enjoying this uplifting film at home, where theater viewing wasn’t an option.”
Nothing is known yet about the final chapter in the “Wonder Woman” trilogy. The sequel, which had been delayed numerous times amid the pandemic, starred Kristen Wiig as the villainous Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as the over-the-top businessman Max Lord and Chris Pine as Diana’s love interest, Steve Trevor.
Gadot’s Wonder Woman will be seen next in Zack Snyder’s four-part cut of “Justice League,” due on HBO Max in 2021.

Pike? Pine? Tomato tomato. I dunno. They both have something to do with Trek. I hope I wasn't spoiling. I thought he appeared in the trailer. Anyway I won't say anymore as I don't know what happens.
RE: Becket...it's a good play dammit. There's the Burgess Meridith / Zero Mostel version. There's the Robin Williams / Steve Martin version (which I haven't seen, but I'd like to...)

Wow. Like really…wow.
That was so bad. 2.5+ hours of painful badness. What even happened? The ol’ ‘careful what you wish for’ trope played out to the sum of all fears. So incoherent. What did anything have to do with anything? How could they miss on such an epic scale? What was even the point of it all?
I still like Gal even though her powers here are ridiculous. I thought Kristen was okay at what she was doing given that most of her snl skit roles had more 3d characters. And Pedro was refreshingly different. Chris… meh. I bummed me out when Gal made him put down the sword. The 80s mocking didn’t work for me (I still love Fanny packs and those neon aerobic tights).
The end-of-credits scene was good (even though that didn’t make any sense either). I’d say just skip to that.
Not D00M recommended at all.
