Gilda Radner doc. It's very well done but it helps that she documented herself well. Plenty of childhood footage, Second City stuff, SNL, plus she kept journals and tape recorded her private musings. She was a force for sure, and we all know how her story ended. She's treated with dignity and respect, not going to deep into that dark side of being an artist, her depression bouts and eating disorders, just enough so as not to taint her overall character. It's very sweet. It's also amazing to think about all those comedians as youths, how their paths intertwined. That first SNL cast as amazing but they only talk to Laraine and Chevy, and Lorne. They talk to some more recent players, and while that's heartfelt, it's filler. The rest of the doc, talking to people who knew Gilda, is stronger.
No sword fights. Recommended because it's such a nostalgia trip for DOOM youths, when we were all so innocent.
