Charlie's Angels

Better than I expected, which isn't saying much.  It starts with a great throwback to the rest of the franchise, in fact, there are some delightful throwbacks and shout outs to the original series and the movies, stringing them together into a cohesive canon. Then it speeds full throttle into the expanded Angels universe. Now the Townsend agency is a huge spy network with Bond level super tech and resources, including wing tats, which will surely be a symbol inked by ardent fans. With Banks at the helm as both director, writer and Bosley (which is now a rank, like Q or M), this is a very female-strong woke take on what we used to call Jiggle TV.  It gets absurd really quickly with all the international super spy stuff, flagrantly caricature with unapologetic logic leaps and questionable segues into the parade of action scenes, not uncommon for action movies nowadays.  It's funny, and kudos to Kristen, who I generally don't like, for delivering all of the best quips, several of which made me smile and one about her being annoying even made me laugh. Patrick Stewart is good, as always.  Newcomer Naomi is the doe-eyed, wide-eyed nooB, something that makes for some decent comic fare. At 5'10" Ella towers over the rest. She's the most physical with a background in track and field and a graduate of the Academy of Performance Combat (whatever the hell that is - I just read that on IMDB).  I like her though and felt she carried her role well. The fights suck tho - paling by comparison to the first films - one shot, one move stuff, filmed in a manner to obscure sloppily executed choreo.  The end is the best part with a slew of great cameos - SPOILER Danika as the driving instructor, Ronda as the fight instructor, there are several more including one really great cameo which I won't spoil END SPOILER

Not really DOOM recommended unless you're into the franchise.  I suspect Greg will hate it.

But here, check this out:

Ariana, Miley & Lana - Now that's the Charlie's Angels I want to see.

Way to go out on a limb. Greg hates everything.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

But I liked Rocketman. Although it has Rocket in the title, it's not in the MCU. At least not yet.
