No, haven't seen it yet.  Tix for Sunday.

Meanwhile I'm averting my eyes when scanning social media...which is a pain because I'm amused to see trumper reactions to impeachment.

Even avoiding Greg's Mando post until I get to see that - not sure when - hopefully before Sunday.

No spoilers. I talked about Disney+ not working with about 7 minutes left in the episode.

you're actually good about not dropping spoilers, surely an artifact of living with scapino for so long.  still not gonna look tho.  social media is a virtual minefield of spoilers and i just need to hold out for another day...

bummer about the d+ fail.

seen

veeeeeerrrrrrryy j.j. abrams

some heartwarming bits, some poignant, one that even got me kinda misty, and some epic light saber battles.  felt rushed at first as it struggled to build momentum, and heavy on the predictable deus ex machinas, and too much kissy stuff, but how do you follow up the originals?  star wars is all in the wake of the empire strikes back.

Seen it.

I felt it was fine. JJ spent a lot of time getting rid of things he didn't like from where The Last Jedi left off.

It's a bit of a mess. Lots of fan service going around to say good-bye to these characters.

Since I'm not completely up on my Star Wars Lore, I have a question. Which came first: Kylo Ren or the Knights of Ren. Did Kylo choose the last name Ren because he was one of the Knights of Ren or did the Knights of Ren call themselves that because they followed Kylo?

The Knights of Ren were never explained to my satisfaction either.  I've heard that their back story is flushed out in the comics, but I'm not a comics nerd, so I don't care about that part.  It's kinda like 3P0's red forearm in TFA - that's straight out of the comics I hear.  But who cares?  But a tip of the egg helmet to Anthony Daniels, who gets in the entire trilogy of trilogies.

TRoS left me with a lot of other questions too, but I didn't feel the need to pursue them (besides most of them would be spoilers here).  Like you say Greg, it was fine.  I'm happy to leave it at that.  Someday I may go back for the this third trilogy but not for a while.

The only real downer for me was Rose.  That character became so controversial within azn circles and she was given such a pointless role in TRoS.

Chewie needs his own series.  It should be like the xmas special, only movie length like Solo, and Maul should be in it.

Yeah, Rose. Stand there at the monitor, would you?

It's JJ revising out elements he didn't care about.

Rose is like the new Jar Jar for the 3rd trilogy.  Star Wars has never been kind to azns.  That's where Star Trek excels.

That being said, Ip Man 4 beat down TRoS in PRC last week.  That's the Revenge of Chirrut.

Been ruminating over trilogy 2 & 3.

2 gave us Natalie Portman and Darth Maul.  Then there was the midiclorians & jar jar.  sigh.

3 gave us Daisy Ridley and a crap-ton of easter eggs.  And porgs.  And BB8.  double plus sigh.
