The Little Prince (2017)
#1
I think this was up for an Oscar but I can't remember if it won or not. I remembered reading positive things about it, so checked it out when I saw it was on Netflix.

First, it's not exactly The Little Prince. There is a big framing story about a little girl who befriends the old artist/inventor/aviator next door, who gives her pages of the story. I think we're at least half an hour in before we get any of the book. As she reads, the animation changes to stop motion with puppets and cut/torn paper (although I imagine mostly done with computers these days). And that's the part that is visually stunning. The frame story kind of hits you over the head with the theme of the book, but it has charming moments, and a stuffed animal fox is a scene stealer.

Netflix also has a documentary about the book, which was interesting for info on the author and possible inspirations for the book.
