It's a huge ad for AA. The plane crash - you've seen it all in the trailer and it lasts only a little longer in the film. Then the rest of the film is all about AA. Is Zemeckis recovering? Seems like it. Denzel & Cheadle do what they do best; Denzel might even be Oscar nod worthy. John Goodman totally steals the show as the slinger. Kelly Reilly is my new ginger crush. No sword fights, bollywood dance numbers or Harry Potter alumni.
Hello, my name is DM, and if I was part of AA, I'd have to change my name.

It's the feel good hit of the season.
Not really. On it's most basic level, it is about addicts coming to terms with their addictions. Sure there is the best plane crash sequence ever, but ultimately the journey is Whip Whitaker's as played by Denzel Washington. It isn't pretty. But it is really well done.
No sword fights. No bollywood dance numbers. No hallucinations.

And I argue that Fearless still retains the best plane crash sequence ever. Not the Fearless with Jet Li. The one with Jeff Bridges.

That was good, too.
But that slow motion shot over the baptists with the plane plowing into the field was awesome sauce. We watched the extras on the DVD about the plane crash, but all it showed was the gimble that rolled the plane for the interior shots. Nothing about the exterior plane shots. Come on, haven't we all see giant gimbles you can mount a plane on?
