The Haunted Mansion

Not sure if this was on the old forum, but it just surfaced in my Netflix queue.

Horrible, horrible movie but the sets were gorgeous.

The DVD even had a special feature that allowed you to tour the mansion so you could masturbate to the details.

The odd thing about the movie was the promise it showed in the first 20 minutes. Eddie Murphy was actually semi-amusing, his family was nice and the real-estate angle was very creative. I have a gentle-humor side that actually liked the Doctor Doolittle movies so I'm not a total cynic.

Then, the special FX kicked in and it turned to shit.

The homages to the ride were cute, but outside of the harmonizing heads and the hitchhiking ghosts, totally humorless. The Madame Leona character was especially annoying.

Anyway - Greg was propmaster so hopefully he has something cool in his attic to show us.

Wasn't a lot to grab from Haunted Mansion. Although, I did get a velour bathrobe as a show gift from Eddie. If you need pictures, those i have.

Might as well put this here. Yes, they have remade a movie of which I made the original. Well, the first one was bad. The second one, in the words of the Queen, wasn't as bad. There was a lot less Eddie Murphy mugging.

It's the same story. A family ends up in a haunted New Orleans mansion, this time it's Ashoka and her son. The ghosts make it so they can't leave. They look to outside help to see if anything can be done. In steps, Ben, a man who can photograph things that can't be seen. He doesn't want the job. He doesn't believe in ghosts despite the fact he leads a ghost tour. All of them, with a few additional characters go through the house seeing a lot of things you would seen on the Disneyland attraction. There were a couple of good chuckles. I think we built a better mansion but their mansion seems more of a part of it's surroundings.

Don't watch this unless you need to compare it to the original, which you don't.
