Because of my Diabetes, I get to go to Kaiser and give lots of blood for tests. I usually end up in Glendale where this scary Jamaican nurse usually takes my blood. I did this yesterday. But because of the usual snafu of me showing up for tests and then they don't have enough tests scheduled for me, I have to go through this rigamarole a second time after speaking with my doctor.
So, in the course of two days, I got needle jabbed twice. Today's old asian woman nurse did not inspire confidence. I gave her my left arm since the Jamaican had stuck the right arm the day before. Well, OAN poked my left arm and flicked it with her finger a couple of times and then poked it somewhere. She decided there were no veins in there and moved back to the right arm. She joked she wouldn't use the same hole. I silently didn't believe her. She poked a bunch more times, eventually inserting a millimeter from yesterday's hole.
This was in sharp contrast to the scary Jamaican Nurse. Why is she scary? Basically, she grabs the proffered arm, takes a quick glance, and inserts needle. Not a word. No pillow talk. Just jab. Two vials in a second later, I am out of there. Wham Bam, Thank you for the O+. It's scary how fast and efficient she is. There is none of this prodding and hemming and looking. It's just in goes the needle. I feel so violated. But after the Asian lady, I'm voting scary Jamaican lady from now on.
Although I think Jamaican Nurse is getting to know because she did wish me a good day.
