Anyone else going to Comic-Con this year?
My 'Stagger Lee' friend coaxed me into going again with the promise of a free pass and multiple industry parties.
This year should be interesting with thousands of attendees parading in their Watchmen costumes.

It would depend on how many free passes you could score, now wouldn't it. Although the chance to photograph Doom at Comic-con might induce me just to go.

You can stop by the Smith Micro booth, but unfortunately I won't be there. They don't send me to the fun shows...

You work for Smith-Micro? Why haven't you been handing out the discounted copies of Stuffit Deluxe? Why don't they take you to Comic-con?

I can send you a comp... Mac or Win?
They don't send me to Comic-con cause I work on StuffIt and that isn't sexy enough.

Hey! We have WonderCon up here! We don't need your stinkin' San Diego con thingee! Ours is taller, better-looking, and quite the dancer. You con is just buff and has tattoos. Nyaaaaaaah!

Ours also has it's own Marine detachment, so watch where you cast your aspersions about our-con. Plus, it has Comic right in the title. This despite the fact it's more about Movie and TV than it is about comics.

Do we all have the original Watchmen comics buried in the closet. I read mine about a month ago. The Queen was horrified when I pulled out my boxes of comics. Thery are going to be worth a fortune some day. Once we cut down all the trees and our need for paper products explodes.
The Watchmen was better the second time. I still think "The Dark Knight Returns" is better. It's probably time to start the Watchmen thread. Scapino and I are probably heading to see it next Saturday.

...it felt really dated. i never owned the comic. ed lent me his initially. i remember being totally blown away - it was those ed moments back in the day that solidified my respect for his artistic tastes and has allowed me to tolerate him showing footage of defecating musician and scab-eating dwarves - all in hopes of another watchmen.
the edition i just read was the 'loaner' edition of on of our graphic artists here. i was rather underwhelmed. i see what impressed me so long ago, but now, well, it's just a comic - a pivotal comic - but just a comic. that being said, i think it'll make a great flick, but i doubt i'll run out to see it.

So it looks like I'll be driving down with a couple of my friends:
Jimmie "Bomb Queen" Robinson and some guy he met on the internets named Tim . Our 4th, Derek McCulloch is flying down since he hates road trips and my music.
We'll be there Wednesday through Sunday (although I may bail a couple of days and cool my heels at The Hotel Del Coronado ). Ahh - the luxuries one can afford when booked 4 to a room...
Anyway, I'm bringing a 1.75 Litre bottle of Tullamore Dew and a bunch of cigars. Call me at 510-207-5122 if you want to get drunk and recreate scenes from 'The Stunt Man'.
