Inaugural Haiku
#1
We're all supposed to do something constructive today. I have decided to follow the lead of all the entertainers/artists flooding DC and compose an inaugural haiku.
Maybe we should all do this. Not that I'm ordering you to. It's not like I'm President, you know. But it strikes me as "a good idea."
I (we) need to finish it (them) by tomorrow's inauguration.
Good luck.
Now I need to do a search on haiku and refamiliarize myself with the line/syllable scheme.

Bono sang badly
but it was cool to hear Pride
where MLK spoke.

There's my 5-7-5 on yesterday's festivities.

Oh heck. Running out of time. Here's a clunker.

Clothes for the dusk king
Lucid weave of hope and change
Machine wash with science

Heh-heh.
Yeah, the negatives are more apropos, I fear.

I had a first version that ended with:

more words, blah blah blah

But then I tried for something more positive.
I do believe we're leaving The Age of Denial.
Hopefully this won't be a sequel.

Hmmm - Postive:

Eight years of torture
I still gaze out the window
Hope lives on inside

Negative:

The house is destroyed
Even the new carpenter
is filled with despair

Does Haiku really work in English? We have so many words that 'share' syllables. Especially verbs 'de-stroy-ed' (2 syllables or 3?). I guess if you look at it poetically it could be 'destroy'd',

English is messed up.
