Nose to the grindstone 2025
Had a decent Kung Fu session. I made a NYE resolution to recover my 3 section staff for 2025 and I was delighted to discovery that it’s mostly still there - just the hard moves and sketchy (glad I used the nerf sanjiegun of my shin would be shattered now).

Now eating some homemade nachos, then hitting the sauna & shower, then some chores. Then we have a Mexico reunion party tonight.

When did Mexico break up?
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

When it lost the gulf.

Dude, do you even follow the news anymore?

But srsly, it’ll be Stacy’s first attempt at socializing since her mom passed. Hope it goes smoothly.

We bailed on the reunion.

Binging random stuff like fan vids from Dead & CO’s 2nd sphere run which just started - all new graphics.

I need to take apart the sleeping chair to return it. The problem will be the pillows which came vacuum packed. Two walks. More reading.

Stacy is on the road all day today so it's just me and my dog. One telemeeting & laundry.

It's another gorgeous day here in the Cruz. T-shirt weather, which is cool because I got a new T-shirt courtesy of yesterday's lovely D00M Brunch. Here's to hoping 2025 brings more D00M Brunches...

Deleted my 23&me.

Typical work day, then over to svale to visit mom and deal with the mess of her house as we are redoing the floors.

I should write tonight...

I rode my bicycle to/from the office today. It's around 7miles each way. To work is great. It's wasn't too cold and, tho you may not notice, it's a gradual downhill slope from MVHS to Moffett Field. I took Mary almost the entire way, from what used to be the Oaks, across the 280 per bridge, all the way to Maude.

On the way back, I knew it was going to be hotter, so I decided to try the Steven's Creek Trail. It follows the creek, has high walls to block road noise, has no car traffic...all good, but to catch the connection, I had to go about a mile west before I could start south. And, despite the Friends Of efforts, it only goes to just south of El Camino, so I had to take Knickerbocker -> Bernardo -> Fremont -> Belleville -> Homestead -> Foothill Blvd -> Steven's Creek Blvd before I could pick up the next leg, past the Blue Pheasant, past the BlackBerry Farm golf course and thru the picnic areas to my street. Foothill and that last street are fuckers. The entire return trip is a gradual uphill climb and this route accentuates it with some ped bridge ramps. It was hot out, around 85. It took me over an hour to get home. Put everything away, took a shower, and am now ready to eat all the calories I might have burned off and more.

I don't think I'll do it again tomorrow. Tomorrow seems like motorcycle weather...

I always thought it was funny how bike riding makes you much more aware of topography

I am a terrible bike rider. I didn't learn until around when I hit puberty. When I lived back east, we lived on top of this monster hill and it was tough to get bikes up and down it, so I missed the 'normal' learning window. I learned late and never got into it.
