There was a lot of buzz about this show at FXSF.
Eps are short - 24 min - there are 8 up I think, maybe more to come.
About halfway through, this went completely off the rails. The boy, who’s into UFOs (an otaku) gets possessed by a nympho ghost bag who steals his banana. The gal, who’s into ghosts gets kidnapped by aliens who strip her to her underwear and attempt to rape her with bionic bananas to clone their male-only species but she taps her chi and discovers she has magic powers. Then there’s the sumo alien Kaiju that attacks them both at a the gal’s exorcist granny’s temple home which gets magically surrounded by stone walls. This is mostly played for comedy… I think.
I will watch more…

E2 - The granny is a young acerbic hawty who smokes cigarettes and has white hair. There's a definate ecchi tone to this show. The color schemes are so saturated and contrasting, like Lichtenstein with the levels turned up to 11.
There are now 10 eps available.

Got totally sucked into this tonight - all the way to e8.
The ecchi factor has toned down and I’m grateful of that because it gets borderline hentai which just isn’t my thing. Several eps come with the warning of nudity but that’s been false. There’s still a lot of issues with Okarun’s genitals being stolen by Turbo Granny, and Okarun bites her boob as a counterattack. But no more stripping Momo to her undies and less upskirt shots.
I love how the Yokai are depicted. The color schemes get saturated and they all have way too many teeth, crash eyes, wild hair and lined faces. This gets almost kaiju with a demon crab. Turbo Granny possessing a maneki-neko leveled up the anime hilarity. The demon Yokai are given back stories that explain why they’re essentially hungry ghosts, so even tho they’re monsters, it’s explained thru past trauma. They are the result of extreme tragedy, which should be at the core of any haunting.
Then e8 dropped a bomb of a back story, in part to introduce a new character, a vain hawty that stumbles across Okarun’s lost golden testicle or kintama. It grants her powers to see a new Yokai called acrobatic silky (that’s gotta be a bad translation). Their back story is heart wrenching and takes the bulk of e8 - some powerful storytelling just when I was about to write this off as just another wacky anime. Got all kinds of feels from this.
2 more eps and that’s it for s1.

It was actually 3 more eps. And I fell asleep during the last two because I was sleepy.
The aliens came back and it was creepy kinky. Okarun gets stripped naked because they're still after his banana, and then it went full ecchi with both gals stripping to their underwear. Don't like those aliens. Okarun's funniest line was 'why is everyone after my junk?' Good question.
I need to rewatch those last two eps.

Hey now. Why didn’t y’all make these dick jokes on the bloated iron crotch thread?
I rewatched the last 2 eps. Turns out I was as asleep as I thought. They were so odd I just figured I was dreaming, but no. That’s how they were. And the ending was abrupt - didn’t make sense for a season finale but perhaps there’s more to come.
The penultimate ep is just one long fight scene in an alternated dimension. A new alien hitman is introduced who morphs into a giant mantis shrimp and then fuses with Nessie, a Godzilla-like alien hitman and the aliens to form a kaiju that submerges the alternate dimension school underwater. And that’s the short version.
Then the final ep has the kids ruminating about their school status after popping back in the the default dimension naked in front of a classroom of gossipy students. They have to see some sort of school counselor (the show flashes on her ID batch which probably explained her role but was not translated). She’s a dominitrix with a riding crop who whips a school staffer in silhouette when he interrupts their session. Then they encounter the mantis shrimp hitman (he started out as a Mexican boxer I think) and nurse him back to health. They hear his tragic story about his wife’s death and his dying kid and find a solution that explains cow abductions. Then Momo’s old boyfriend shows up?

Another ep! I was mistaken about the season finale. It’s ongoing with new eps being dropped. This one dealt with a possessed anatomy dummy which was grotesque and funny at the same time. The new character, Momo’s childhood bf, is really annoying.
I was talking about anime with one of the young ucsc students in iaido and she’s been watching this too. We shared a good chuckle about how irreverently weird this show is.
