When tg & I ventured to a galaxy far far away last week for banjo passing, this was playing on one of the screens in the background. The early scene with Father Guido Sarducci followed by Ackroyd as a ghostbuster made me realize I’d not seen it or just completely forgotten it.
It was so typical of the time, the mediocre Amblin years, CGI in its infancy plus big complicated steampunkish sets. Ricci is still playing a teen but she’s filling out and performs admirably considering most of her scenes were solo with cgi Casper added in post. Lots of odd cameos - Eastwood, Dangerfield, Gibson - and Idle as a main character which he performs with such lackluster.
Not D00M recommended even for October.
