A new EDM fest at the Monterey Fairgrounds. Been a crazy ride to get here, negotiating with the promoters. We’re a furious 5 for Friday - the preparty. People paid a lot to be here tonight - VIP only. Twas fun - some big beats. Lots of supermodel types dancing. Fashionistas. We connected with the cops & security & the head promoter. Our main point of contact is taking good care of us.
There’s a Ferris wheel, a fun house, a spin & barf and a drop & barf ride, a huge inflatable elephant & Cthulhu (yay tentacles!) a lot of Neft vodka.
I have an extra pass if anyone wants to come.
The afterparty is Laidback Luke, a Kung Fu DJ who we covered in KFTC. We’ve texted and might hook up before his set but he’s coming in from Sweden then headed to NY then back to SF - busy dude.
Had nachos at Denny’s just now. It was surprisingly satisfying.
Got a bottle of Jameson black (a gift I’m donating) and Martell 10 year bourbon.
3 more vol gals tomorrow.
It’s trippy to have begun and ended my 2024 festival run here at Monterey. Also to be back so soon after jazz fest.
Decided to camp tonight & tomorrow. Hope to make it back to yoga Sunday morn.
There’s an AR app that’s fun. Eager to see this all in full gear tomorrow. 6K sold (holds 12k)

Last night was cold
Time to rise & shine
Actually my bladder has me getting up.
Does anyone know what 143 meant in pager code?

The fog is rising behind Sam Feldt, an ominous omen of the evening. Wind is picking up.
Great crowd - fun, happy, lots of cosplay. The place feels empty but hats adding to everyone’s enjoyment (except the promoters maybe).
Lots of cool drone footage coming. The drone pilot is fearless. Hope he doesn’t chop off someone’s ear.

Teisto plunges us into the micro mycellum network.
Still blue sky.
Had a seratonin syndrome but she leveled off and was with friends.

Plucked an IPR from the cops - got his wife to pick him up. He was a babbling baby by the time she got here. He had a tropical short with his own face all over it. Never wear that and trip.
Got snacks at the artist concierge after some strange gals gave us candy and told us to go there.
Rode the Ferris wheel and did the fun house.
Chain smokers are dropping that bass now.
Hoping to connect with Luke at the after party next.
Still warm. The last kiss of summer 2024.

That was ecstatic.
Connected with Laidback Luke - danced to his set until 2-3 am
I was front of stage for it all.
Neft means oil in Russian - they had an open bar. I drank a lot. At one point, this hawt bartender gal was pouring shots into mouths from stage. That was fulfilling.
Now back in the default world.
Heading to yoga soon because DM is heroic that way.

A lot of medics put their wristbands on the laminate lanyards for fear that someone may grab them. I’ve always put them on my wrist. I know dozens of wrist grab reversals but in 47 years, no patron has ever grabbed my wrist. I’m still waiting. I’ve have plenty of patients grab my lanyard, which is why I usually tuck it.
WA gave us sweet lammys plus a lanyard. The lammys were all access (could’ve even gone on stage with it) as long as i had a paper wristband (which I had). Someone also gave me a cylume band which is still glowing rn. I like wearing wristbands for a few days following default world reentry. When I get bummed, they remind me of the fun adventure I just had. Lately, the industry has moved to cloth wristbands which are chipped at OSL. WA went cheap so I’ll probably cut these soon. The cylinder will fade soon too.
When I played the AR treasure hunt, I won 189 points. Those were like $ at the merch booth so I traded it in for branded metallic stickers, a scarf and a shirt. The shirt is coded with a tap badge that allegedly opens an NFT but I haven’t logged in yet. They went high on the merch quality & lams, but not the wristbands.

143 was the staff bathroom code. I texted it to our crew & some of them (former pager owners) thought I was just being affectionate.
I don’t think I heard any U2 samples. Heard a lot of Bob Marley - he EDMs well.
I just noticed how much my tinnitus is ringing. The drugs must’ve just worn off. Having a sad.
