Agatha All Along
#1
(08-10-2024, 10:13 AM)Greg Wrote: Agatha All Along. Final Trailer. Sept 18

I was only going to watch the first ep but I got sucked in quickly and watched 3. E1 starts in Wandavisionland but quickly jumps into its own tale - a quest filled with trials. E2 is about gathering the questers - the coven - and there’s some funny chemistry in the painfully representative group. There’s a jade egg reference, which made me think of Greg, and then made me ruminate about how wrong that was along with the grim realization that it may always be so going forward. Dammit, I’d even rather think of Gwyneth over Greg but now my mind is scarred. E3 begins the trials. The first one is preposterous but the hallucinations are kinda fun and character developing.

Kitty from That 70s Show appears playing Kitty (Rupp has one note) and Aubrey Plaza has a great role.

I get annoyed ever time I hear Harkness (it’s like Pavlov’s dog hell for me) which couples my Jade Greg egg issue with this show.

But so far, it’s fun, lighthearted and Kathryn Hahn reclaims her MCU role quickly.

It is a fine October watch so far, a spooky (not really) warm up for Halloween.

I start Disney+/Hulu in November. Then I'll catch AAA and Only Murders in the Building.

I’ll likely check out OMitB soon. There’s a lot on Hulu for me.

E4 was the 60s musical ep. Strangely it didn’t work for me. But the switch in coven members was good and has me looking forward to the next ep.

That’s all that’s available now. I must wait for the next ep to drop.

New eps drop on Wednesdays. This quest is somewhat meandering because each ep is a trial and that’s not quite doing it because the rules are so open ended. But I do like that characters die, or seem to, perhaps they’ll all be reincarnated in the end. It is Disney from where we coined the term disney deaths. I’m only marginally engaged in this show but I’ll see it through. Like I said, it’s an ok Halloween watch.

The reveal of the teen. It was set up by the last episode’s cliffhanger.
And SPOILER ALERT he’s gay END SPOILER
Told ya it was about inclusion.
I prolly should’ve revisited Wandavision to make this work better. It surely would’ve increased my enjoyment of it but who has that kinda time anymore?

Now I’m just following along to see how this ends.

A tarot test with a sword(s) of Damocles punishment. One of the swords that drops is the Conan sword from the governator films and I was amused that I recognized it. There was a Disneyesque nod to Malificent and the wicked witch of the west, both of which felt like product placements.

I dunno if this show is working for me anymore but I’m still gonna see it through because it’s a weekly and after 7 days, I’m curious what happens next again. Plus I must be near the end by now.

The final 2 eps were released together in time for Halloween. It was ok, not stellar. I did like both Hahn & Plaza, and that characters died so there were stakes. It was a good Halloween warm up watch. And the title gave it all away. It was Agatha all along, obvs. The mcguffin wasn’t as mindblowing as the creators might’ve hoped it would be, but it played out well. And the door is open for a second season, despite that everyone is dead.

Not D00M recommended but Greg should see it to get his marvel fix.

This will be mediocre after Halloween. It really only worked for me because it’s the season of the witch. And Aubrey is good in it.

I thought of me during the Jade Egg episode and how I would get to tell DM. Total win.

Fun so far. Two episodes in. Just started the Witches Road. I really liked how they continued the Wandavision use of TV tropes to make the first episode. Ep02 was getting the gang together. I do like Aubrey Plaza, so far.

Will watch more.

Finally, two good episode. The episode with the teen and his backstory went really well. And the fortune telling witch episode was fun as she was lost in time. Hopefully, the rest of the episodes will keep up the good work.

And we are back to bad. For a brief shimmering moment, I thought the show had found its legs. I was wrong. The ending blew. Yeah, it was a good concept about the Witch's Road but no. I felt really let down by the ending. Sound and fury signifying nothing.
