Nandor Fodor and the talking Mongoose

Nandor (Simon Pegg) is a paranormal skeptic. Anne (Minnie Driver) is his asst. Like Sherlock Holmes, people emplore him to investigate strange goings on. One letter he receives is about a talking mongoose named “Gef” that lives on the Isle of Man and many of the folk report his hijinks. The letter says the reports were previously investigated by another researcher (forgot the character name). So Nandor meets him (Christopher Lloyd) who then recounts his previous visit. This recounting takes 1/4 to 1/3 of the film.

Then, Nandor and Anne head off to the Isle of Man to investigate for themselves and it becomes a thinly veiled “Waiting for Gadot”. If you cant see him is he really there? It also reminds me very much of Fairytale where 2 girls take a photograph of faeries and Harry Houdini visits to investigate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FairyTale:_A_True_Story

It’s a lot of meh. Nandor is supposed to be from New York, but he has a vague Norweigian accent.

Not recommended, tho it was nice to see Minnie Driver in something again. I enjoyed her preformance in The Riches tv series.

Ok...Nandor was a real person, Hungarian...

Gef is voiced by Neil Gaiman (wutevs)

Been tempted by this one but it’s now at the bottom of the queue (which means I’ll probably never get to it).
